Woodstock 50 is a No Go
Q the sad faces…the ambitious dream that was Woodstock 50 is officially not going to happen.
With artists like John Fogerty, Santana and David Crosby set to perform at the August 16th event, there are no doubt thousands of disappointed would-be concert goers today. The cancellation brings to conclusion a breakdown that started in April when the marketing firm that was financing the festival pulled out and said the event was canceled.
Michael Lang, co-founder of the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival. who was one of the organizers original festival in 1969, pushed on though, stating the marketing firm didn’t have the authority to cancel the festival.
Then the venue in New York pulled out. Lang was able to get the festival moved to Maryland but in the end – it just wasn’t enough.
“We are saddened that a series of unforeseen setbacks has made it impossible to put on the Festival we imagined with the great line-up we had booked and the social engagement we were anticipating,” said Michael Lang, “We thank the artists, fans and partners who stood by us even in the face of adversity.”
