Much of Prince Edward Island will be closed for the Labour Day Holiday:
Shopping centres, including Confederation Court Mall, Charlottetown Mall, County Fair Mall and Down East Mall, will be closed today.
Major grocery stores across the Island, including Atlantic Superstore and Sobeys, will be closed for the day.
Liquor stores across P.E.I. are closed, but those looking to purchase alcohol can head to Mel’s Petro-Canada, as it will remain open.
Canadian Tire, Home Hardware, Kent Building Supplies, Home Depot and Sherwood BMR stores will all be closed.
Walmart stores will also be closed.
The city’s major drug stores, however, will be open.
Shoppers Drug Mart, Lawtons Drugs and Murphy’s Pharmacies across the province will be open but may be subject to holiday hours.
Before going to any other pharmacy people should call ahead.
For those hoping to take in a movie on Sept. 3, the Cineplex at the Charlottetown Mall and City Cinema are both open.
The Confederation Centre of the Arts will mostly be open, including the restaurant, gift shop and main stage shows, but the administration office will be closed. The Mack will also be open for scheduled performances.
Many of the restaurants in the city will be open, particularly those in areas that attract large numbers of visitors like Victoria Row, Sydney Street, the lower end of Queen and Water streets and Peake’s Quay.
Many gift shops and craft shops are also expected to be open.
