Cancel the Copyright
What do you get when you cross a lawyer, musician and programmer? Damien Riehl is what you get. He teamed up with fellow musician and programmer Noah Rubin and together they created an algorithm that produced every 12-note melody that could ever be written.
Now as Riehl puts it in the video, “No he is not going to be a Copyright Troll trying to take over the world”, because he and Rubin put all that music out on the public domain.
So why do this? “The copyright system is broken” says Riehll in the video and he hopes to help musicians avoid ridiculous copyright laws like “subconscious infringement” where even if a musician has never heard the song they are accused of copying, they can, and have, still been held liable.
